**Maryland SPCA Pet Pals

The Maryland SPCA will continue its Humane Education initiative to the community by offering again the summer reading program for kids ages 6-12 years old in 2017. The new dates and times for the Summer Reading Program will be posted in the Spring of 2017. Please check back.

“Pet Pals is a program that will benefit children and also benefit the pets waiting to be adopted,” said Katie Flory, director of community affairs at the Maryland SPCA. “It will help reinforce to children that pets should be loved and treated kindly while they continue to strengthen their reading skills during summer vacation without being judged on their reading abilities. The pets enjoy the company, and it reduces stress in pets who may be anxious in a kennel environment.”

*Each child must be accompanied by an adult.

**Participants are encouraged to bring their own books to read.
