Great Country Farms Visit

By Julie Kahn - Assistant Publisher July 8, 2017

My family and I went to Great Country Farms this past weekend.  We had a really fun time.  There is so much to do.  The staff was very helpful and provided a map when we first arrived so we knew where everything was located.  My girls kept running from one activity to the next.  They couldn't get enough of all there was to offer.  I'm pretty sure I went down about 12 different slides.  (Yes I am a kid a heart.)  The mining sluice was amazing for my girls.  They were so excited each time they found another gem.  My younger daughter wanted to do it again and again.  I had to tell her that we had enough gems.  All the animals were out and about and loved following you around as you walked around their enclosures.  My girls really enjoyed some goats we found on the roof of an overhang.

The most fun I had was the rope maze.  It looked so easy from the outside but it was quite tricky.  I was able to make it to the middle in 3 minutes 44 seconds which makes me a captain of the rope maze!  My older daughter had a complete meltdown while trying to figure out the maze so we started over and worked as a family so we could all make it to the middle.

The farm is quite large which means there is a lot of space for people and children.  We never felt crowded or rushed while doing things.  We were able to play on each item for as long as we wanted.  There are so many places so sit in the shade! My husband and I definitely took advantage of that while the girls played on some of the kids only play areas.

The day we went Great Country Farms was offering pick your own peaches or blackberries.  We have never gone picking for anything before as a family so we opted for peaches.  We had such a fun time searches the trees for good peaches.  My younger child found a lower tree and picked a lot of really small peaches.  I think she was trying to impress the staff in hopes of getting a job there. :)

We were able to enjoy so much of the farm during our visit however we didn't get to everything.  My husband really wanted to do the Farm Ninja Course.  Next time babe.

Thank you Great Country Farms for allowing my family to come and enjoy your farm.  We had a great time and can't wait to go back.

Tips for 1st time visitors to the farm: wear comfy shoes, wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirt and dust on, wear sunscreen and bug spray.
