Jason's Deli Catering Review

December 15, 2017

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of experiencing my first catering experience EVER in my home. We were having a family birthday party for my son. Every year I debate about what food we are going to serve and struggle to think I'll be able to cook it all, decorate, bake a cake, and of course clean the house before the party. I tend to decorate quite a bit based on the theme of the party and make a cake with icing from scratch to go with the theme. All of which take way more time than I ever plan it will causing quite a bit of last minute panic to get it all done. Cooking and food prep is truly not my favorite thing so that ends up being way more stressful than it needs to be.

This year, I decided to try Jason's Deli and their catering. It was a mid-afternoon gathering so I felt like a Deluxe Sandwich Platter and a Dessert and Brownie Tray would be the perfect fit. I have to paint a little behind the scenes picture of the day so you will understand why I was more grateful for Jason's Deli than I ever thought I could be. We normally have family parties on Saturdays, as we have out-of-town guests who stay with us and it is easier to host guests overnight after the party instead of before. This year due to scheduling we had to do the party on a Sunday. Our out-of-town guests arrived on Saturday which meant I was decorating and party prepping with a fuller house than normal. I am normally a ball of stress the night and morning before a party so I thought this would be quite the challenge even with Jason's Deli taking care of the catering.

The night before the party after the kids were in bed, I started the straightening and decorating. I got that done with ease pretty quickly. My son asked for pumpkin pie instead of a cake so I had already purchased that ahead of time and Jason's Deli was taking care of the rest. I didn't have anything else to do! For the first time ever, I was able to go to bed at a normal hour and wake up not stressing about getting a million things done. While I was taking care of the kids and a few odds and ends, my husband went to pick up our order at Jason's Deli. I had gotten paper plates and utensils, etc because I wasn't sure if it would be provided and I never thought to ask. My husband came home hands full with our order. Beautifully arranged sandwiches, chips, pickles, and the assorted dessert tray. To my surprise, they thought of everything! I didn't even think about condiments and Jason's Deli had them nicely packaged up in our bag along with plates, utensils, napkins, and even tongs for our sandwich platter! What an awesome surprise!

As I was setting up and less than an hour before our party was to begin, I got a call that one of our guests was in a car accident. At this point, I am completely abandoning the catering spread that I hadn't gotten set up yet to handle the situation as I was extremely upset. If it wasn't for Jason's Deli, there was no way I would have been ready for this party, let alone had the food ready to go when the guests arrived! Luckily, my husband jumped in to set everything out. It was the most amazing feeling to know the food was handled when I was dealing with so many other outside factors and emergencies.

Before I even had a chance to join the party, the guests had already started eating. I cannot begin to tell you how impressed everyone was! The sandwiches were piled high with the freshest meats and cheeses and there was plenty to go around. The guests couldn't stop talking about how good the food was and how generous the portion sizes were. Even the chips tasted better than the chips we normally purchase at the store. Everyone was impressed! I took a photo of the roast beef sandwich and sent it to the guest who couldn't make it when they asked what was on the menu. They were disappointed that the first year I had something catered, they missed out!
