Another week has flown by and school is just over a week away from starting! Have you done your Back to School shopping? This week is tax free week until Sat so it's a great time to update and add to the school wardrobe for clothing and shoes. I don't need to get my kids too many things this year, but I am trying to get what they need this week. Just a quick tip, if your child does extra curricular activities, make sure you have all of the shoes and gear they need as well. It's great to take advantage of tax free week to grab dance leotards, shoes, cleats, and athletic wear to name a few. Every little bit of savings helps!
I love how the elementary schools give out school supplies lists in advance. There are so many sales over the summer for those and it makes a big difference in savings if you can watch sales and grab things early. As my kids have gotten into middle and high school, we don't get those full lists ahead of time and we are always out that first week grabbing something random. They do their best guess and let me know what they need, but then it's always something very specific that we didn't think of or know about. This summer, the requirement for an AP class assignment was an 8.5x11 college ruled spiral notebook. I was very surprised to see a specific size requirement for the notebook. These are the types of things that I have to be very mindful of when picking up supplies. It's crazy how some notebooks are sized just a tad bigger or smaller than that dimension. I'm interested to see what other surprises come our way when school begins. In the meantime, we grabbed the basics...minus the green folder that was out of stock.
