Review: The Creative Can Birthday Party

I am so excited to share with you our experience at The Creative Can this past weekend. Last Saturday, The Creative Can hosted my daughter's 6th birthday party. What a treat it was!

My daughter has really been into art this past year and has been drawing, painting, and creating everything imaginable. When I learned about The Creative Can I was immediately interested in learning what they had to offer. In addition to different class offerings, I was eager to learn that they also do birthday parties. Being a mother of two and juggling all of the activities during summer vacation, this seemed like a great option for her first party with friends from school. When we talked about the different options for the party, I found out they we could choose a unicorn theme. There are many themes to choose from for both boys and girls. My daughter LOVES unicorns so this was perfect!

We all know how much planning and prep work goes into hosting a party. There is so much to do. Cooking, decorating, shopping, and cleaning are just a few things that come to mind when I am prepping for a party. When it's all said and done, that's a lot of prep time for a short party. The Creative Can took care of almost everything! All we had to do was bring the cupcakes, drinks, snacks, and paper products. Everything else was there and ready to go for us. The Creative Can recommended Jen Cake who makes beautiful cakes, but I enjoy baking the cake or cupcakes for my kids' birthdays so I did not choose that option. For those of you who aren't bakers, I highly suggest taking her up on the recommendation. Jen Cake did make the cookies we decorated and they were delicious and perfectly made.

The Creative Can has a beautifully decorated art space for the party. With unique decorations, everything was put together perfectly. When we arrived, we were greeted with a smile and warm welcome. The space was already set up for all of the children. It looked amazing and my daughter was so excited. There was a space to the side that can be closed off from the party where you can stage any items you bring with you. We set the cupcakes I made in that area and there was plenty of space for me to make emergency repairs to the cupcakes that fell over during the drive. I'll save that story for another time, but I have learned I need to figure out a better way to transport cupcakes!

For the party we decided to decorate unicorn cookies and paint unicorn canvases. I knew my daughter loved art, but honestly didn't know what her friends would think. The parties we have been to tend to include a lot of high energy activities and this was much more relaxing and laid back. The Creative Can honestly thought of every little detail. They asked my daughter what music she enjoyed and were able to instantly oblige her request for Kidz Bop. Impressed was an understatement and the party was just getting started.

We started decorating cookies and the kids were taken through the process step by step. They were taught different decorating techniques and each child had their own set up of supplies. When decorating cookies, there are sprinkles and other edible treats involved. The Creative Can made sure each child had their own in anticipation of those (my son) who decided to snack on the decorations while decorating. The kids took their time decorating and perfecting their cookies. I wasn't thinking they would spend that much time and focus on it, but they were so into it! Each child had their own idea for decorating and they came out so well.

They transitioned to the painting and The Creative Can walked them through each step of the process. I even learned a bit about painting myself! Creativity and uniqueness was encouraged and everyone took time and care in making their paintings. While step one of the process was drying, we seamlessly transitioned to cupcake and snack time. There was a sink right in the space for the kids to wash up. I didn't have to even help with that. I also didn't mention that aprons were provided so the kids didn't get their clothes dirty while painting.

After cupcakes, the kids went back to finishing their paintings. The Creative Can walked them through every step throughout the entire party. All of the kids enjoyed themselves and the parents were so impressed! I had a mom even ask me about details because she thought it was such a great idea. Did I mention no clean up? All of the art mess stays in the studio, not in your home! If you haven't checked them out, make sure to do so. I cannot tell you how pleased we were with this experience. Everyone was wonderful and I highly recommend booking a party with them or checking out a class. You won't be disappointed!
