We all know the 2020 has been a year of surprises, changes and challenges. We know it's been hard on you because it's been hard on us too! So many things are different, but for us, it's the lack of events happening in our community to come together. Macaroni Kid Columbia-Ellicott City-Western Howard has decided not to let the pandemic stop our family fun. We decided to Spread the Light to bring joy and kindness to our community starting in December with hopes to spread light throughout the end of the year.
I am so excited to announce the we will be delivering 25 Spread the Light bags to local families during the first two weeks of December to end this year on a positive note. Macaroni Kid Columbia has partnered with some AMAZING local businesses who want to help Spread the Light throughout our community too!

HOW DOES IT WORK?
The Holiday season will most likely look different for a lot of children this year. There will be less events and public gatherings than ever before. Let’s help spread some winter cheer by "Spreading Light, Joy, and Kindness" to local families and start the “Pay It Forward” movement throughout the month (each family will be encouraged to "Spread the Light" for at least 1-2 more families)… think of the joy we can spread throughout Howard County with our Spread the Light Effect! Macaroni Kid Columbia will make 50 Spread the Light Bags to kick off the fun. We will be "Spreading the Light" to 25 local families and starting the “Pay It Forward” movement throughout the month of December. Each winning family will receive two Spread the Light bags... one to keep and one to deliver to another local family.
HOW CAN YOU SPREAD THE LIGHT?
Beginning on November 21, 2020, Sign Up to Receive a Spread the Light bag for your family! We will be choosing 25 families by random drawing, so there are LOTS of chances to win! Delivery begins during the first week of December.
If you find a Spread the Light bag on YOUR porch....
- Enjoy your treat ~ you have received the light of kindness and joy at your house!
- Tell about your surprise using #MKSPREADTHELIGHT on Facebook and Instagram for a chance to win an ULTIMATE Spread the Light BASKET (more details coming on that soon!)
- Place the "Spread the Light" sheet on your front door/window to let everyone know that you have received the light at your house.
- Secretly deliver the second basket to a family's home who have not received the light to continue the pay it forward spreading the light effect! (Create & deliver another for even more chances to win!)
GUESS WHAT! You don't have to receive a bag to give one! Start the trend in your neighborhood and give out a couple of gift bags that your family creates.
