April 24, 2021

Macaroni Kid Columbia-Ellicott City-Western Howard is excited to be a Media Sponsor of Kennedy Krieger Institute's ROAR For Kids. Due to the pandemic, Kennedy Krieger Institute will once again be going virtual for this jungle-themed fundraiser event. With health and safety a priority to all, ROAR For Kids will be a weeklong celebration that includes a drive-thru CARnival, virtual race, and mascot challenge!

Invite your family and friends to join you in supporting the more than 25,000 children and families that Kennedy Krieger serves each year. You can attend this exciting event from nearly anywhere this year. Starting Saturday, May 15, and lasting until Saturday, May 22, families can join in for daily activities to raise funds for research and programs that help kids at the Institute. On the last day, the event will conclude with a virtual version of the traditional 5K road run and fun walk! Since 2005, this event has raised more than $3 million for Kennedy Krieger Institute.

Kicking off the week will be the first-ever ROAR drive-through CARnival on Saturday, May 15 where participants can pick up goodie bags and score fun giveaways for the kids at home. The fun-filled week will consist of several virtual events including yoga, special offerings from the Maryland Zoo and the National Aquarium, dress like your favorite animal, and more! Kennedy Krieger will host a ROAR Pep Rally on Friday, May 21, to energize and excite families, kids, and supporters for the final big day. The Pep Rally will include games, inspirational testimonies from families that have been supported by Kennedy Krieger, and a chance for participants to connect with their teammates. On Saturday, May 22, the weeklong event will wrap-up with the Virtual Race and Mascot Challenge!

Post pictures on social media showing off your Kennedy Krieger pride and support with #ROAR4Kids. Wearing your favorite animal face paint or fun costume is encouraged!

Participants and teams may register online and build personal fundraising pages—all in support of the Kennedy Krieger program of their choice or support the Institute by selecting “Patients, Students, Clients and Families of Kennedy Krieger.” Celebrate and ROAR all week long by following the event on our Facebook page.
